Market Mapping Tutorial
Step 5 - Customise Appearance
Once the Market Map has been completed with 'Roots', 'Nodes', 'Comments', 'Shapes' and 'Links', it is time to
customise its appearance. With Market Mapping Software V2 most of
the parameters of each component can be changed, as can the style of the map itself.
- Shape Type. In the 'SupplyMap' example, rectangles have been retained, but Roots, Nodes, Comments and Shapes can
be changed to circles, ovals, triangles or any required combination.
- Background Colour / Image. The Shape underlying Bricks Manufacturers has been changed to light grey.
Both Comments (one title, and one text) have been made transparent. The three 'end user' Nodes now contain
appropriate .jpg images.
- Link Style. The 'Link' arrows have been changed into a 'Horizontal and Vertical' format.
- Link Colour. All Links now adopt the colour of the source. E.g. all links originating from Bricks
Manufacturer A are coloured Maroon.
- Link %. The % volume carried by each link is displayed.
- Text Colour. The title has been changed to Dark Blue.
- Font Style. The style of the title has been changed to Bold.
The user has the opportunity to customise these and many more properties, to create Market Maps that
are informative, dynamic and visually impressive!
To customise, select the required component (note that handles appear at the edges, corners and
centre) and then click upon the 'Properties' button (shown above) on the Toolbar. Properties such as
shape, orientation, colour etc. can now be changed at will.

'Domestic Buildings', 'Private Sector Buildings', and 'Public Sector Buildings' Nodes.
All Links adopt the same colour properties as their source and have adopted the 'Horizontal
Vertical' Link Style. Link % is also displayed via File / Preferences: Click the 'Link Percent'
tick box displayed within the 'Preferences' Dialogue.
