Frequently Asked Questions

Q What are the minimum system requirements to run MATRIX V5?
A Personal Computer with 486 processor and above 6 Mb RAM, 20 Mb hard disk space, 32 bit Microsoft Windows Operating System (Windows 2000, XP, or Vista), and recommended MS Office 2000+.

Q What software tools are used in the construction of MATRIX V5?
MATRIX V5 is a 100% Microsoft* compatible application. The underlying database is Microsoft Access, and the development environment is Microsoft Visual Basic. Graphics have been produced via the Microsoft Windows API. The Help system is produced as a Microsoft HTML file.

Q How much does MATRIX V5 Cost?
MATRIX V5 software can be purchased directly from our online store for GBP 595.00 + VAT per single user licence. An introductory package comprising one MATRIX V5 software licence, and up to five hours of application support (delivered via WebEx) is a popular choice at GBP 1,495.00 + VAT. If you require a more comprehensive programme of software and training then you may find our Strategic Analysis and Planning Workshop to be a more suitable alternative. Part delivered in person and part delivered via WebEx, workshop prices start at GBP 2,995.00 + VAT. Our Price Guide provides details of the main options.

Q What are the benefits of participating in the Strategic Analysis and Planning Workshop?
You produce an embryonic model for your business under supervision, and in an accelerated learning environment. Even if you are familiar with the key concepts of strategy such as the Boston Matrix, Perceptual Mapping and Risk Analysis, you may not have a clear understanding of the issues behind Multi-criteria Analysis (e.g. how to apply 'swing weights', 'direct ratings', 'value functions' etc.) and some of the more advanced analytical techniques. A workshop provides you with the necessary background knowledge in practise and optimises your learning experience.

Q What user documentation is available?
An extensive Help system is supplied as part of the application, and a user manual is also available to download. First time users may also find the Tutorial located on our website of interest. More specialist documents e.g. those which describe the calculations used in the formulation of charts and graphs can also be obtained from Market Modelling Limited on request.

Q What technical documentation is available?
Release Notes, which contain full technical details of the application's development, components and service history are supplied as part of the application (the 'ReadMe.txt' document). More specialist documents such as a database schema are available from market Modelling Limited on request.

Q Is MATRIX V5 a Client / Server application?
It depends how you define 'Client / Server'. MATRIX V5 is a single user PC based application. However it can be set up to access models stored on a central server via a shared network drive. In this way a model can be accessed, viewed and edited from one or a number of PCs working at remote locations, and data is held securely on your server.

Q Can MATRIX V5 run on an Apple Mac?
MATRIX is not designed to run on an Apple Mac and Market Modelling Limited has never tested the application in this environment. If you attempt to run the application in a Mac environment then you do so against our recommendation and at your own risk!

Q Is MATRIX V5 available in languages other than English?
MATRIX V5 is currently available only in English. However the application will work with local currency symbols and decimal / thousand separator settings.

Q For how long has MATRIX V5 been available?
MATRIX V5 was released on 24 January 2007. This application builds upon MATRIX V3 and MATRIX V4 which were released in December 1997 and June 2004 respectively. Since then the product has been sold all over the world and is represented by Consultant Partners in a number of different Regions. Market Modelling Limited continues to invest heavily in the product.
